‘Treatment’,  A Verona Rose ting Ltd’s debut production. A new long form Scripted Comedy Series created by writer performer Verona Rose.

The series stars Verona Rose, Anneka Gouldbourne, Alice Fofana and Tula Fazakerly and Anton Rice.  Fofana and Rose met in 2013 whilst performing together in an adaptation  of Franz Kafkas Metamorphosis; directed by Nick Pelas. They later began writing together and created an online series called ‘Besties’ which would later inspire Verona to create Treatment.

All involved in the project  share aspirations of creating more opportunities for black British creatives in the British film and TV industry.  Within ‘Treatment’ We portray diverse black characters and show characteristics of black women we rarely/if ever get to see on our TV Screens.

Development for the show largely took place in lockdown, while filming commenced at the ease of lock down with covid 19 regulations in place. We  had a diverse crew on board and moving forward would like to expand this to support Black British LGBTQ+ in film and production.

Verona Rose (BBC Fully Blown)  wrote ‘Treatment’ together with Anneka Gouldbourne and Patrick Thompson. The Pilot episode ‘Aunty Hulga is Comin’ is directed by Verona Rose with the hope to have Clare Anyiam-osigwe (‘No Shade Director) direct one or more episodes of the series.

The heart of the show is Aisha Salon. A heady mix of glamour, style, fashion, black excellence, attitude, community love and fabulosity.

Think a 21st century black female led Desmond’s meets Sex in the city. A modern day outcast family full of big broken characters, belly laughs, dramas and so so much sass. Inspired by real life events that happen in a black hair salon.

The Salon is a gathering place and de facto community hub for gossip queens, the local shoplifter, The Jerk man(The Jerk chicken Man who has his Jerk Cart right outside the salon) played by Marc Wesely DeHaney. The woke sistahs and brothas and anyone that want’s a place to chill or more often than not a heated debate. Nothing is off limits when it comes to Aisha’s Salon!

With the array of wacky characters that enter the salon, not a lot of hair styling takes place, but nonetheless everyone gets together and has a good time.
