Nicki Minaj is promising fans the “biggest and best tour yet” when she heads to Europe next year.

The rapper’s announced a 17-date tour starting in Sweden in March and ending in Glasgow a month later.

She said: “It’s been way too long since I’ve seen my European Barbz! We have more than a few surprises in store.”

The 32-year-old will perform nine dates in the UK in cities including London and Birmingham, with special guest, Grammy-nominated R&B star, Trey Songz.

He said he’s thrilled to be heading to Europe, adding: “The love I feel overseas is overwhelming and I can’t wait to get the tour started to bring fans the best TRIGGA show possible.”

Last month, Minaj apologised after the lyric video for the track Only was accused of containing Nazi imagery.

The European leg of The Pinkprint Tour is announced days after Nicki Minaj found out she was nominated for two 2015 Grammy awards – best rap song for Anaconda and best pop duo/group performance for Bang Bang with Ariana Grande and Jessie J.

Her album – also called The Pinkprint – is released next Monday.

Tickets for the UK shows go on sale at 9am on Friday 12 December.

AGMP presents RAKIM – Live in Concert

The Greatest MC of all time

In 1986, Rakim started to work with New York-based producer-DJ Eric B. The duo—known as Eric B & Rakim—is widely regarded as among the most influential and groundbreaking of hip-hop groups, due in no small part to Rakim‘s technical abilities.

The duo’s first single, “Eric B. Is President” was a success and got the duo a contract with the fledgling Island Records sub-label 4th & B’way. The duo’s next single, the smash “I Know You Got Soul,” sparked early debate on the legality of unauthorized, uncredited sampling when James Brown sued to prevent the duo’s use of a fragment of his music.

Their first full album, “Paid In Full”, was released in 1987. causing a stir in the hip-hop music world due to its novel sound, approach, and subject matter. Rakim pioneered a practice previously unknown to hip-hop called internal rhyming. Already an important aspect of traditional poetry, where rhymes could be found throughout the bar of a lyric which added to the rhythmic complexity of the song: “I keep the mic at Fahrenheit, freeze MCs, make ’em colder/The listeners system is kicking like solar/As I memorize, advertise like a poet/Keep it goin’when I’m flowin’ smooth enough, you know it’s rough.” Instead of two rhyming syllables within two lines at the end of the lines, as we would find in the older hip-hop style displayed above, we have 18 rhyming syllables in just four lines. Rakim also introduced a lyrical technique known as cliffhanging and popularized the use of metaphors with multiple meanings. His songs were the first to really impart hip-hop music lyrics with a serious poetic device sensibility.

Eric B & Rakim went on to produce three more successful albums, all now considered hip hop standards.

Jay Z catches the Tube in London to his own concert

Jay Z catches the Tube in London to his own concert

To most people’s surprise catching the tube in London back home from work on Saturday night, Jay-Z takes the underground to his concert also accompanied by Chris Martin, Timbo and a few others.

Everybody knows how manic travelling around London can be, that’s why for some of us,  hopping on the tube is the best option to get around quickly. Yesterday London commuters were in for a big surprise as Jay Z, who’s currently in town for the London leg of his Magna Carta Holy Grail Tour, rode the tube to his show at The O2.  As if one Grammy Award wining artist on the tube wasn’t enough, Timbaland and Chris Martin were also spotted with Jigga, along with a few more of his entourage.

Of course their sightings drove Londonders into a frenzy and many of those that spotted the crew  hit Twitter.

Fans wrote:

“Coming off the tube and I see Jay Z casually walking up the next escalator next to me… EVERYONE GOES NUTS!! WTF??!”

“So jay Z gets on a tube to his own concert LOOOL about 500 ppl just ran after him.”

A list of demands from Beyonce‘s London O2 Arena residency have reportedly been revealed.

The singer is allegedly demanding £600 drinking straws and hand-carved ice balls on her rider and she is insisting that her crew wear only 100 per cent pure cotton clothes, to save her from allergic reactions, according to The Daily Star. It also claims she demands her dressing room has freshly painted white walls and a new toilet seat, and will only use red toilet paper.

Junk food is banned and snacks must include glass platters of almonds and oatcakes – and there’s a strict green-only policy when it comes to salad bar nibbles. Other reported demands include special alkaline water that is served at exactly 21 degrees. “She’s extremely regimented and is taking everything extremely seriously, so she expects her list of demands to be adhered to. Working so hard and with the toll the travel takes on her body in addition to the intense shows, she feels that her requests aren’t too much to ask for as she wants to ensure everything goes to plan,” a source said.

During her six-night residency, Beyonce has snubbed brand new dressing rooms at the venue in favour of much larger quarters normally reserved for sports teams. “The new dressing rooms are superb – it’s like you’ve stepped into a luxury apartment. But she surprised everyone by turning them down, going for the larger ones that are used by sports teams when they play at the O2,” an insider told the Evening Standard, before adding: “They are much bigger though, and she was given free rein to refurbish them to her own taste. They’re also in a quieter part of the backstage area, which gives her a better atmosphere to get focused for her shows.”

Beyonce last night (April 30) played the second night of her O2 residency, performing for another packed house and – as happened previously – covering part of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’. Her song ‘If I Were A Boy’ replicated the Verve hit’s string sample, and the lyrics were changed to include the ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ line “I’m a million different people from one day to the next“.

Beyonce dazzles at London’s O2

To her fans she is Beyonce and according to her tour title she is Mrs Carter, but whatever name she uses the former Destiny’s Child star never fails to dazzle.

By Rosa Silverman

Monday night’s show at London’s O2 arena was no exception, with the Crazy in Love singer mesmerizing the crowds with her showstopping outfits and polished choreography.

Performing her Mrs Carter show in the capital for the first night, she took to the stage in a series of racy costumes that made no attempt to hide her famous curves.

Pictures of the gig were quick to appear on Twitter, despite the photo ban that the singer has imposed on audience members at her concerts.

The Mrs Carter Show World Tour began in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, on April 15.

Its title is a reference to Beyoncé’s marriage to Jay-Z, the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter.

She is performing a total of 11 concerts in the UK this month and next, before returning for one more show at Twickenham Stadium on June 1.

She announced the tour, her fourth solo one, after performing at the Super Bowl half-time show earlier this year in the US.

Her UK dates come two years after her performance at the Glastonbury music festival, which Jay Z has also played.

The show was the first of four dates in London and she plays the same venue tonight, Wednesday and Friday.

Following her Superbowl performance in February, Beyonce’s publicist asked news websites to remove photos of her on stage that were deemed “unflattering”.
